The InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit is a civic organization of lay and clerical people.

Our diverse beliefs toward spirituality and compassion lead us to know that every individual is of worth and deserves to be seen, heard, and valued in their complexity.

We know that co-creating a better future will require the voice of all.

We seek to create a thriving community through proactively developing individuals, leaders, and organizations who can see, hear, understand, appreciate, and co-create spaces where every person belongs, even amidst differences and conflict.

Connection, Learning, Conciliation, and Collaboration are the values through which we work.

Faiths Connected, Communities Strengthened, Together We Thrive

Our mission is to bring people of many faiths together to work toward a community based on our highest and best values.

Our top priorities are:

  • A thriving interfaith leadership team that develops and strengthens relationships among our diverse communities in the metro Detroit area.
  • Programs that create transformational, experiential learning, where individuals in local communities learn from each other and are changed together.

We commit to the intentional practice of living out our values through the following principles:

  • We embrace a mindset of intellectual humility, with a readiness to learn from other and be transformed, rather than seeking to transform them.
  • We step back in moments of conflict and ask what we and others need in that moment.
  • We seek out the voices of all community members, seeing each individual in his/her complexity.
  • We listen respectfully and intentionally, with a recognition that agreement is not a requirement for compassion and respect
  • We share our story and to receive the story of others with respect and humility.
  • We actively appreciate another’s experiences and values, asking questions to understand.
  • We cultivate an environment where each individual has the opportunity to learn and grow from his/her inevitable mistakes.

We need your voice!
