Journeys: A Season of Celebration

This time of year is filled with meaningful opportunities to support and celebrate our Journeys students and school communities at end-of-year events and celebrations. We are always grateful to be invited into these spaces to witness the amazing learning and growth that students have developed throughout the school year.

Recently, we had the pleasure of attending Larson Middle School’s Celebration of Learning Night, where students showcased the many educational and extracurricular experiences available within their school community. Journeys students worked hard to create a wonderful informational table featuring food samples connected to the different faith communities they visited throughout the year. They shared their experiences, displayed their learning materials, and spoke with visitors about the impact the program had on them personally. Students also presented to a large audience about why Journeys matters, what they learned, and how the experience shaped their perspectives, while also leaving time to answer audience questions. We were so incredibly proud of their dedication, preparation, and courage in sharing their stories.

We also attended Grissom Middle School’s Culture Night, where school administrators and teachers made a point to ensure Journeys staff were invited and warmly welcomed into the Grissom community to share about the program, answer questions, and support students and families during this important evening. Grissom students participated in Journeys during the 24/25 school year and are hopeful to continue this experience with a new cohort of students this coming fall. The evening highlighted food, music, clothing, special cultural performances, and celebrated the many cultures and backgrounds that make Grissom such a special place. Seeing students and families proudly share their traditions and stories was such a pleasure. We appreciate and thank the staff, students, families, and performers who helped make the event so meaningful, showing that Grissom truly is: one community, many cultures, endless belonging.
