Thank You for Making the 14th Annual Suburban–Urban Interfaith Unity Picnic a Success!

Our hearts are full of gratitude following Sunday’s 14th Annual Suburban–Urban Interfaith Unity Picnic. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, attended, sponsored, and supported this special day of friendship, service, and community. From setup to cleanup, countless hours of hard work, and plenty of literal “sweat equity,” made this event possible, and I hope Heaven rewards each of you with much goodness ahead!!

We extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors and donors, whose support made the picnic possible, as well as to DJ Rodney DeJohnette, face painter Melissa, and Jack and his team from The Party Source for providing the tables, chairs, and tents that helped bring the event to life.

Thank you also to the many organizations that hosted information tables, including Detroit Public Schools Community District, Henry Ford Health, the InterFaith Leadership Council, Jewish Frontline, the League of Women Voters, Dr. Anil Kumar, Epiphany Literacy Centers, and the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan. Your presence helped connect attendees with valuable community resources.

We are especially grateful to the interfaith leaders who offered prayers and words of inspiration throughout the day: Bishop Dan Gifford, Imam Arif Huskic, Charles Thomas, Rev. Melissa Claxton, Cantor Janet Christiansen, Rabbi Ben Altshuler, Rev. David Kasbow and the Metro Family Church singers, Dr. Paula Drewek, and Bishop Corletta Vaughn. Your leadership beautifully reflected the spirit of unity that this gathering celebrates.

We look forward to building on this year’s success. Volunteers are invited to join us for a Thank-You Barbecue, event evaluation, and planning session at the end of August or beginning of September. Watch your email for the date and details. Thank you once again for making this year’s picnic a memorable celebration of peace, friendship, and community.
