Religious Diversity Journeys

As the new school year approaches, the Religious Diversity Journeys Program is set to continue its remarkable growth, reaching even more middle school students across our diverse metro Detroit area communities. This program, which has earned praise from students, educators and hosts alike, is set to enter into another ambitious year of connection and immersive education.
The Religious Diversity Journeys program is structured as a supplement to the State of Michigan World Religions curriculum for middle school-aged students. The program strives to highlight institutions, cultural styles, religious beliefs and practices, and systems of thought that have specifically influenced the diverse communities in the Metro Detroit area. Our goal is to enhance and extend the lessons that students are learning in the classroom through engaging and dynamic presentations and activities. In this way, we hope to contribute to the breakdown of stereotypes and prejudices by highlighting the commonalities and differences among various religious traditions.
Students who participate in our program should leave with basic relevant faith information, memories of an exciting, immersive and welcoming experience and subsequently feel empowered to build bridges of understanding within their local schools and communities.
This year, the RDJ program will expand its reach to several new schools and districts, bringing its transformative experience to a wider audience. The growth of the program reflects a growing demand for education that prepares young people to be thoughtful, inclusive leaders in an increasingly interconnected world.
The success of the Religious Diversity Journeys Program is a testament to the dedication of school administrators, teachers, host communities, and student families who believe in the power of learning across differences. As RDJ continues to grow, it is our pleasure to bring this program to our local communities.
