Diminishing Distance Through Education
August 19, 2024
A major public discussion has emerged around the extreme polarization of people around viewpoints, perspectives, and frames of reference. Interfaith engagement has the potential to bridge some of what separates one group of people from another, and educational opportunities provide the key to that bridging taking place.
The work of the Education Committee of the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit strives to provide such experiences and occasions for exploring the rich tapestry of religious traditions in the metropolitan Detroit area, recognizing the value of learning about both similarities and differences among groups and belief systems. During a time in which there is a widespread impulse to divide and distance, the Education Committee helps to foster interaction, conversation, and respect for those distinctive aspects of diverse spiritualities and faith communities.
Offerings of the Education Committee include interfaith bus tours, panel conversations, and presentations, and makes space for dialogue to occur. Please consider moving a step closer to understanding and connection by participating in an upcoming educational event of the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit.
