Maternal Infant Health News

July 14, 2024

Community Outreach Perinatal Educator, Kerisha Henderson, has been graciously shedding a light to improve the well-being of mothers and infants in our community by uplifting the conversation with her presentation, “Bridging the Gaps Where We Belong”. Not only does this presentation support the ongoing work of the InterFaith Leadership Council of Metro Detroit, it speaks to the efforts supported by Southeast Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Coalition (SEMPQIC) & United Way of Southeast Michigan, to decrease the health disparities that plague our communities with adverse maternal and infant outcomes.

This collaborative partnership has gotten off to a great start! We are pleased to announce that The Council of Baptist Pastors, Nehemiah Baptist Church and Spirit & Truth Christian Ministries were among the first to host the presentation. In addition to being among the first to spark the conversation that will begin to ignite the much needed work behind this discussion, they also received blood pressure monitors to increase their value as pillars in the community. By increasing their ACCESS, this will empower the community around them to decrease this crisis, and help those who interact with them to take charge of their health and take the first step in the right direction; for we know that access is another much needed solution to the multitude of barriers that many people face.
