Bridging the Gaps Where We Belong: Maternal Infant Health Advancement

May 19, 2024

The InterFaith Leadership Council is proud to announce a new initiative, Advancing Healthy Births, led by our Interfaith Health Equity Partnership. In communities across Southeastern Michigan, access to reliable health information and resources remains a significant barrier, especially in the realms of maternal health and chronic conditions like hypertension, which disproportionately affect BiPoc communities and underserved populations. Our mission is to bridge this gap by providing critical health education, focusing on healthy births and increasing awareness about health disparities that persistently affect these communities. Informative sessions and blood pressure monitoring training are led by Kerisha Henderson BS-CCM, a Full Spectrum Doula, Community Outreach Prenatal Educator.

Kerisha has already spoken to the Council of Baptist Pastors and the Religious Leaders Forum regarding this incredible opportunity in hopes to spread the message of these sessions and training throughout Oakland, Macomb and Wayne County.

Kerisha is the Project Director, for this program, at InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit.

This program is made possible with grant funding from Southeast Michigan Perinatal Quality Improvement Coalition (SEMPQIC), Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and United Way for Southeast Michigan.
