Southfield Festival of Hope

The 5th annual Southfield Festival of Hope is coming  Thursday , July 9th – Sunday July 12th   sponsored by and on the grounds of Hope United Methodist Church, 26275 Northwestern Highway, Southfield.  Admission is free. The festival features fun for the entire family young and old alike- exciting rides, games, karaoke, contests, clown,  food, and a  variety of vendors.  Stage entertainment is free every evening featuring local and nationally known musical talent.

The theme is “Community Forward” showing the rich diversity of the community and engaging many in this wonderful event . There is also an outreach to both the needy and physically challenged to provide free rides on the first day of the event.   Seniors are invited Friday afternoon to spend hours of fun at Bingo and other games.

The opening ceremony, Thursday, July 9th , 5:30 p.m. will be attended by local government officials, clergy, and business leaders. Robert Bruttell, Chairman of Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit will speak on the benefits of the Festival attracting a diverse and inter-faith population.

The first night entertainment, July 9, 6:00 p.m. entitled “Inter-faith Music Explosion.”  Groups from many different faiths take front stage to sing, dance, play an instrument or in a band to express their individual faith through music.  Included are:

Nightly July 10 – 12 will include an array of entertainment : singer Kimmie Horne, Motor City Dance Studio, and Gospel Fest, Southfield Martial Arts Institute Exhibit, and other electrifying  entertainment..

The Festival provides something for everyone this year, entertainment, along with a mix of great food provided by Fuddruckers and Jackson’s  Five Star Catering & Lana’s Bake Shop.

The ride line up includes new rides: Quasar, Rock Star, and the Starship 2000 or Gravitron   The two new kiddie rides are the Quad 4 x 4 and the Farm Tractor.

Advance tickets for rides are $16.00 – otherwise on site are $22.    $20 donations are appreciated for youth who cannot afford a ride and meal ticket.

Every year proceeds go to youth programs that benefit the local area communities.
